I'm looking forward to meeting everybody at Lighthaven!

Now that I have moved from New Jersey to Walnut Creek, CA (just a month ago), I plan to come to this meet-up. I've been reading Scott's blog for over a decade but have never attended a meet-up before, nor have I ever driven to Berkeley before. Is there parking available nearby?

Usually street parking, yes. There are many side roads that are rarely full.

Thanks, Brad. I appreciate that information.

Lots of street parking nearby but the general request of Lighthaven is to please not park in the 2 blocks closest to it (assuming you don’t have a mobility limitation or similar constraint). They’re trying to maintain good neighbor relationships.

I am 74 years old but a good walker, so I will park 2.5 or 3 blocks away. Thanks for the information.

Time to debate if I should do the 13 mile bike ride to the worst Bart station to get on a train that'll take 1.5 hours to get there... so a round trip time of 5 hours

And to think some people don't like cars.

yeah it's twice as long by public transport+bike as it is by car.

About half of that is not living close to BART

Where are you coming from Edmund? I'm driving from south of SF, but would be happy to carpool if you're anywhere close to my route.

Yes, I plan to be there!

Hello all, I'd love to attend but have a 3 year old daughter that I would have to bring with. Could any other parents help me understand how they engage their kids while trying to meet new people?

Plenty of kids around and lots of people who enjoy entertaining kids; I suspect it will work great to bring your 3yo along!

my work ends at the start time but i hope to make it if it goes late enough.

I had hoped to make it this year, but someone scheduled a professional conference that I can't justify skipping for the same week. Maybe next time (though holding it on a Wednesday does kind of maximize the potential for that sort of conflict).

I think I'm probably one of those not typical ACX readers and I plan on attending. I just joined the newsletter a month or so ago, brought here by "The Goddess of Everything Else," which I couldn't get out of my head for a couple of months since reading it. I tend toward possibly unrealistically positive aspirations for the future of humanity and find the changes brought from AI to be incredibly exhilarating - though I'm also slightly terrified of it ever since reading Bostrum's Superintelligence many years ago.

Drift Hunters captures that truth in every turn. It’s not a game that screams for attention. It’s one that quietly earns your respect — because it gives you something few games do anymore: the freedom to be present. https://drifthunters2.io

Sounds like a great event! I love how welcoming it is to everyone—it reminds me of https://crossyroadgame.io where you can jump in and start playing no matter your skill level, and every step forward is part of the fun. I’m excited to see how it all goes
